Caleby's Birthday

Caleb Riley Dove
May 3rd, 2000
12:37 a.m.
6 lbs. 2 oz.
18 1/2 inches long.

Perfect in every way.

I can't believe Caleb is 9.   In that many years, I have had the privilege of being the mother of this incredible soul.  Here are some things I have learned about him.  In no particular order.

1.  He is gentle.  He loves all creatures, big and small.  (Except he has a terrible disdain for stinging insects, we'll leave them out of his love for all creatures.  He is terrified of them.)
2.  He is philosophical.  An example is that, while studying Black History Month, his teacher noted that Rosa Parks was born only a month after Harriet Tubman died.  Caleb explained to her that God must have sent a new angel to take her place.  She emailed me immediately to tell me this, because it was so sweet.
3.  He is smart.  He loves to come up with ideas and theories about the world.  He's the 'What if' guy.
4.  He's an athlete.  He can't stand to not have a ball, of almost any kind, in his hands.  When he was 3, he got a set of golf clubs and Rodney called him his 'retirement plan'.
5. He's a lady's man.  He can't concentrate in class sometimes because there are too many good lookin' girls around :) No matter how hard I try to convince him that this is silly and immature, he still loves the ladies.  Hmmm...
6.  He is a mommy's boy.  He still cuddles with me, but only when he thinks nobody is watching :)
7.  He's a daddy's boy.  He and Rodney are two of a kind.  They enjoy each other's company so much, it's fun to watch ;)
8.  He's slightly spoiled.  But, then I think all kids are.
9.  He's an interesting guy.  He tells funny stories and loves to be in the center of attention.
10.  He's Hannah's big brother, and the best one we could have asked for.  She must have heard us call him Caleb Riley... so she shortened it to 'Caleb-y".  Now, he's stuck with it.
11.  He's a precious boy~  Our lives have been blessed because of him and we love him to pieces~

Birthday festivities at Grammy Tammy and Granddad's.

We bought him a Wii... and he got a TCU Jersey and football.  Taylor has decided to be a Horned Frog next year, so that makes us automatic Frog fans!

Rodney, Caleb, Rance, Brady and I all went to see the Rangers play the Chicago White Sox Saturday Night.  The game was delayed several times due to rain, but by George, we stuck it out and saw them win.  Caleb had a blast.

Happy Birthday Sweet Boy!  We love you!!!!
