Not if, but WHEN!!!

Rodney and I just finished our whirlwind trip to Houston.  I had two job interviews for teaching positions next year and we looked at about a million houses.  Our realtor, Grace, has the patience of Job and is just what we needed to guide us through this scary time.

My first interview was Thursday afternoon in school district of my first choice.  The HR director and I hit it off from the start.  He said something to the effect of "I don't need to ask many questions because I know the reputation of Austin College."  I think that's one of the things I paid for when I got my education there, and boy, does it work!  He also went to the same college where my dad went, so it was just a very comfortable interview.  He basically said that he wants me to come back to the job fair in April where he will personally introduce me to the middle school principals and he feels certain that I will have a position there.

Thursday afternoon we met with our realtor and she introduced us to about a half dozen builders.  We really hadn't even discussed the prospec
t of building, but we knew she was guiding us in a safe direction.  Thursday evening, Rodney's birthday, we met up with some friends for dinner at Saltgrass and had a wonderful time.

Friday morning I had an interview with the district that was my second choice.  This interview also went exceedingly well and at the end, I had in my hands, a "contract offer".  This simply means that if I choose to sign the document, I am guaranteed a position in that district.  It was, however, my second choice, so I needed to really think this one through.

Friday afternoon - more house hunting.  A lot more house hunting.  But, our hearts leapt when we visited a certain neighborhood with some certain ducks and a certain lot that we fell in love with.  So, we contemplated this Friday evening over Pei Wei.

Saturday morning I woke up with just an extreme peace about the decision to put a contingency contract on a build.  Basically, we put a small amount of money down to hold the lot.  They start the house to our specifications and then if in a few months our house in Denison has not sold, we get our money back.  So, it's a win/win situation.

We spent 6 hours on Saturday picking out choices for tile, carpet, brick, etc.  But, we're happy with our choices.  Now we just sit back and wait for the offer on this house so that the whole thing can continue to progress.

Oh, by the way, the house is in the school district that was my first choice... so that makes me happy.

These will be our ducks - They come right up into the front yard

Our house will be this one's twin.  Same brick, same trim colors, same everything.

Our back yard has a wrought iron fence that opens directly onto the walking trail and lake with beautiful fountain.

This will be our view from family room, game room, and upstairs bedrooms.  It is very quiet and serene.
