Actually, that's Kentucky in nearly-3-year-old language. That's where Rodney has been since Thursday evening and who knows when he'll get to leave there.
Here's what happened.
His four day trip was supposed to take him through Veracruz, Mex and several other places but his first overnight was in Lexington. With anticipation of Ike making landfall, his trip was 'changed' to a 55-hour overnight there in Lexington. We thought this was good news. An easy way to make money. Sitting in a hotel that's connected to an Orvis store and the arena where the Kentucky Wildcats play ball... But with all planes being moved out of Houston and little activity at the airport, the 55 hour overnight turned into an 80 hour.
The latest news is that they have changed his trip to end tomorrow night (day 5) in Newark. So, then he'd have to get on a plane and come home to Dallas. Unless they reassign him to do something else. A member from the union said they don't expect anything to go in or out of Houston until Wednesday. Yippy for us.
I'm trying to keep it relative and understand that he is safe, while thousands of others are not. I'm trying to remember that he hates being gone as much as I hate having him gone, but that this was the decision we made, together.
In other news, I removed the crib from Hannah's room and instead she has Taylor's old double bed. I stood in front of that crib for several long minutes and tried to remember placing her tiny infant self in the bed the day we brought her home from the hospital. I remembered all those nights I stood over her to pat her sweet back as she fell asleep. I remembered all the nights I had to go get her out of the bed to keep her from screaming while Rodney and Caleb slept.
They grow too fast! I have loved every moment of being her mom, and while I hesitantly switched her bed, I just look forward to so many more sweet memories with her.
***UPDATE*** Rodney has been reassigned to go to Newark today, Kansas City tonight, and then hopefully home tomorrow evening (Tuesday). He said they are not releasing any of the pilots from duty unless they are already on day 7. Today makes day 6 for us, so he'll have to be released tomorrow. It's just a question of whether or not he'll make it home.

Hey, saw your comment on Amanda's blog. I can tell you how to set a big picture like hers on here if you want me to. I've been lurking for awhile now, your kids are so cute!
I am sorry to hear that Rodney is still stranded away from home. The destruction in the Houston Galveston area is horrible. I am surprised that they didn't just send him to the DFW airports so he could be with his family. I hope he gets to come home soon.
Okay, here's what you do for the picture:
Go into the layout section of blogger, and at the top where it says "header" you'll see "Edit" click on that. Then you can download any image you want, (just make sure it's already the size you like) and put it there. Click "behind title and description" to place it like Amanda's.
Also, if you want to get rid of the advertising for "cutest blog" go to the place where you pasted your background, and delete everything after "style" (inside the triangles, about halfway down). I'm glad I found your blog too! I'm adding you to my blogroll. :)
uggghhh... what a crazy story! poor Rodney! poor you guys! I hope he gets home super soon!
