I received an email earlier today from one of my best friends in high school. It was from a teacher at my alma mater, good ol' LHS. In an effort to encourage more students to pursue college or technical training after high school, they are compiling information on past graduates and their successes.
I thought this was such a great idea, and I would love to get a look at the 'wall' now. Guys...remember when we used to do the wall.... WOW!
Okay, so here is the information that the form asked for, I thought I'd share it with you.
Name: Whitney Balch-Dove
Levelland High School Class of 2000
College/Tech School/Military Experience: I received my Associate of Science Degree from South Plains College in 2002, then I transferred to Texas Tech and majored in Biology. When my husband, Rodney graduated from Tech, his new job brought us to Denison. So, then I transferred, again, to Austin College. Austin College is a top-ranked liberal arts college in Sherman, Tx. I changed my major to psychology, so I could finish sooner, and graduated in 2006.
Degrees/Certifications received: As mentioned, A.S. in Biology and then my Bachelor of Arts is in Psychology/Biology. I also earned my Texas Teacher Certification in 4-8 science in 2006.
Current Employer and Job Title: Sherman Independent School District 8th grade Science Teacher
Current Residence: Denison, Tx
Then, the kicker... they asked for pictures, a then and now...
So, I have to throw in a few of those.
The DAY we graduated from high school. Bottom left: Jenny Top Left: Mary Kay Bottom Center: Jennifer Top Center: Kelsey and then, far right...ME! What's so interesting is that Jenny is holding a picture of us at our freshman band banquet and we were posed in that exact way. I'm still in close contact with 3 out of 4 of these gals!
Yah, um, yearbook picture. I had professional senior portraits done, but they are at my mom's house. They were better though, promise!
And, then... last years school pic. This year's is terrible, I'm totally double-chinning, so I'm selectively omitting that one.
Anyway, LHS grads, if you are interested in sending your stuff... The person to contact would be Joanna Runkles. You can find her email on the website I bet. Or,you can just ask me!
Talk about a BLAST from the PAST!
